How I Spent My Thanksgiving Break

by Megan on November 28, 2010

The Thanksgiving holiday is one of my favorites.  Usually it involves eating copious amounts of food and laying around being lazy for a long weekend.  I love having Thursday thru Sunday off.

This year, however, we decided to commit ourselves to working over at Danny’s mom’s house.  There is SO much stuff to do over there (we are trying to get it ready to put on the market by the first of next year).  This weekend, our main focus was the detached garage behind the main house (we also worked on the main garage some).

DSC_2064 This garage was where Danny’s father worked on cars and also apparently stuck whatever did not fit inside the main garage.  For the past 8 years, it has remained largely unused.  We found a picture from the late 90s which showed just how untouched most of the stuff inside had been.

DSC_2066 We made a lot of progress this weekend.  We rented a dumpster and had it filled up after roughly 2 hours of hard work on Friday morning.  There is still a ton of stuff left to do – but, I no longer have a panic attack when thinking about what is left to tackle.

DSC_2067 Today we had some people come over and take down the HUGE satellite dish that his dad had installed in the backyard.  I really wish that I had taken my camera over today to document this as I wasted roughly three hours of my life watching what was going to happen once that pole/satellite came down (it came down harmlessly in the grass).

Tomorrow it is back to work for the week.  I think that all work weeks should be 3 days and all weekends should be 4.  On the upside, we are leaving for vacation on Saturday and I could seriously not be more excited.  It is going to be SO nice to have a few days to relax and bum around.
