Duke Football Fail

by Megan on October 17, 2010

As a die-hard Duke fan, I feel that it is my job to support the football team as well as the basketball team.  Being a Duke football fan is hard.  We try so hard to stay optimistic, but, get our hearts broken over and over again.

Yesterday we woke up super early and made the drive to Durham for the Duke/Miami football game.  I wanted to get up to the campus in plenty of time to head over to the Nike team store and stock up on some National Champs gear.  Guess who I ran into as we were leaving the store?

IMG_2276 Ok, so that is technically a lie.  I did not so much run into the Blue Devil as I did chase him down like a crazy stalker.   As we were leaving the store I caught sight of him in the distance and immediately turned to Danny and said, “We have to catch him!” I have only wanted my picture with the Blue Devil since I was, oh, about 8 years old.

I am kind of bummed though.  I left my super cool hat back at the car and did not have it available for the photo op.  Maybe next time?  Nonetheless, I made sure to grab it before heading into the stadium.

IMG_2277I was hoping for a competitive first half of football – which, I got.  In the end, Duke lost – which really came as no big surprise.  Next weekend is Va. Tech who put a hurting on Wake Forest yesterday.  At least basketball season is right around the corner.  I still love Coach Cutcliffe and have faith that eventually he will turn Duke football around.

After getting home late last night and crashing pretty hard, we were up fairly early this morning trying to get some things done.  In an effort to finally get the house decorated, I went out on a mission to find a console table for our entryway.

First we hit up the local consignment store – which had tons of stuff…

Another weekend has flown by!  I am off to grab Gracie for some quality puppy time on the sofa.
