I will be the first to admit, when it comes to cooking, I have a TON to learn. My mom is a fantastic cook, and, is usually my go-to person with any questions regarding how to prepare things. Unfortunately, she is out of town right now, and, left to my own devices, I had a bit of a kitchen fail this evening.
I went to the vegetable market this weekend to stock up on some things and decided to purchase a spaghetti squash.
I have had spaghetti squash before and thought it was pretty good. When it comes to regular pasta, I have a bit of a portion control problem – so, I am all about trying to find a healthier substitute.
(This is my, “How the hell am I supposed to cook this?” look)
After consulting the internet, I found a few pointers on how to cook this strange looking vegetable up. I cut it in half, threw it in the oven and mixed up some toppings.
After about 40 minutes my timer went off and it was time to see how my “pasta” turned out. I am not sure what exactly I did wrong – but, it tasted all wrong.
The topping was spot on – but, clearly I need to do a bit more research before attempting to cook another spaghetti squash. I really tried to eat this meal – but, I was not enjoying it, and I am not a big fan of making myself eat something that isn’t all that great.
So, instead, I wound up with this for dinner….
I keep these on hand for “emergencies” and convenience. Not exactly the Sunday dinner that I was hoping for, but, at least it tasted they way I expected it to.
You win some and you lose some – this was definitely a case of my kitchen ineptitude catching up with me.

Did you use the front burner tutorial on spaghetti squash?
I somewhat used her tutorial, but, I think that perhaps I should have actually written it down instead of going from memory. I cooked it a long time though – like almost an hour and it still tasted raw. I wonder if I picked a dud of a spaghetti squash?
