A Very Productive Day

I definitely stayed up past my bedtime last night watching the Duke/Purdue game.

That would be 12:05AM that I finally made it into the bedroom.  I probably did not actually fall asleep until closer to 1AM because those close games always get me a little keyed up.

We had to be up relatively early this morning because we had registered to walk in the Carolina Canines for Service Walk for Those Who Can’t charity dog walk.  This was our second year participating in this – it is a really great organization who trains service dogs for disabled veterans and people with disabilities.  One of my friends from high school was injured in Iraq and has a dog that was trained through this group and it is a cause that I do not mind getting up early to support.  I think that I read that it takes upwards of $30,000 to train ONE dog.  They announced today that just from the pre-registration for the event this morning that something like $36,000 had been raised.  And that didn’t even include the “day of walk” entries.  Awesome.

Gracie (obviously) got to come and enjoy this morning at the park with us.  She got a bandana for participating, but the real treat was getting to mingle with the hundreds of other dogs.

Gracie is a weird dog.  She is usually super shy around people that she doesn’t know.  But, if you have a dog with you that will vouch – you are golden in her eyes.  We were so proud today, because she was just letting anyone who wanted pet her and give her attention.  At one point, she dragged us up to the people at the Great Harvest table and we assumed it was because she wanted a treat they were offering.  To our absolute delite, she turned her snout up at the treat and went straight up to the people and gave them some kisses and grinned as they rubbed her.  It made me so happy to see my little girl being social!

After the walk we headed home to drop the monkey off and then headed back out to go browse at some furniture stores.  We have been looking for a sofa since we moved into the new house back in mid-December.  I really hated the entire process, so, we stopped looking and still have an entire room yet to be furnished.  Not sure why I decided that today was a good day to jump back into the process – but, after spending about 2 hours and different stores, we finally pulled the trigger and ordered a new living room set.

I had my eye on this little number at Rooms to Go….

IMG_2174We spent the evening watching basketball (go WVU – way to knock off Kentucky) and catching up on the DVR.  I threw in a trip to Flaming Amy’s for Danny because when we tried to go to K38 earlier this week it was too crowded and I told him we couldn’t wait for a table.

Tomorrow we have plans to head over to our friends house for some catching up (and in my case basketball watching).  I will just go ahead and apologize in advance to any of my friends who will be at the cookout if I either ignore them or get a little to worked up during the game.

And now it is 10:41PM on a Saturday night, so, I am going to do what any lame 30something does on weekends and head to bed.  Such an exciting life that I lead!
