My favorite weekend

by Megan on March 20, 2010

As a huge college basketball fan, it is no surprise that this is my absolute favorite weekend of the entire year.  Between the all day basketball marathons and cheering for the underdogs, I love nothing more than plopping myself down and watching the games all day and night.

Going back to yesterday, I left work about 30 minutes early so that I would have time to squeeze a walk with Gracie and dinner in before the tipoff of the Duke game.  I was so excited to see the weather turn nice that I actually broke out my flip flops.  Hello there Spring, it is nice to see you – please stay awhile.

P3190001Danny informed me early in the week that this is also his favorite weekend of the year.  The reason?  Because he knows that inevitably he will get to have pizza at least one night.  Since we were running a bit ahead of schedule yesterday, I indulged him and we headed out to the Mellow Mushroom for a bite to eat.  Since we had gone to Brixx earlier in the week with friends, I wasn’t really in the mood for pizza – but, I do love their sandwiches, so, we were both happy.

Once we got home it was tip off time for Duke.  I poured myself a cold (and totally overexposed) beer and settled in for the game.  I knew that those beer glasses that I registered for would eventually come in handy!

P3190008Fat Tire is pretty good – but I prefer Dos Equis.  Once I finish off the last of those beers I will be restocking with my brand of choice.

Today has pretty much been an all day basketball marathon.  I tore myself away to go for a short run – which was more because I had already decided we were going to get shakes from Port City Java tonight than anything else.  The games today have been a lot of fun – between Villanova and Kansas getting upset.  I told Danny earlier, it sure is fun to root for the underdog until they play your team.  I sure hope that Duke comes to play tomorrow and that the game isn’t even close.

Alright, back to WFU/Kentucky.  Go Demon Deacs – represent for the ACC!
