The day before we flew out to Boston, Danny woke up with a sore throat. By the time we arrived in the city, it had evolved into a nasty cold. This really wasn’t a surprise, because it seems like every time we take a vacation, Danny gets sick.
Due to the fact that my husband felt like utter crap for the majority of our trip, we didn’t do much sightseeing that involved a lot of walking around. Before we left, I had gotten tickets for a Duck tour, which we did on Thursday morning.
The Duck tour was alright – it lasted 90 minutes and took us all around the city as well as into the Charles River.
After our Duck tour was finished, we headed over to Fenway Park to take a tour. When we booked this trip, I was really hoping that the Red Sox would be playing while we were in town. Since that didn’t work out, the Fenway tour was the next best thing.
(The view from atop the Green Monster. Not too shabby.)
The final few days of our trip were spent riding around on a Hop On/Hop Off bus. The decision to buy tickets for this was probably the best one that we made the entire time we were in the city. It allowed us to see the city without expending a ton of energy (a commodity that Danny was lacking much of at the time).
We did manage to hop off at a few stops – Quincy Market, The Waterfront, Beacon Hill, Cambridge and the USS Constitution. I feel like we did the best we could considering how awful Danny felt.
There is a ton of stuff that I would love to go back and revisit sometime. Hopefully we will make it back to Boston again sometime and be able to cover more ground. I would also like to take this opportunity to apologize to the vacation gods on Danny’s behalf – I don’t know what he did to upset you guys, but, please no more making him sick when we travel!
