This weekend was one that had been circled on our calendar for a long time. One of our favorite bands (The Old 97s) is playing a show in Chapel Hill tonight. They are doing an anniversary tour of one of my all time favorite albums, Too Far To Care.
I can’t even begin to count how many times I have listened to this album. The songs Timebomb, Big Brown Eyes, and 4 Leaf Clover are staples in my gym playlist rotation. It is just outstanding from start to finish. When tickets for the concert went onsale in late June, we bought them immediately.
Unfortunately, the tickets are still sitting on my kitchen counter and we are, most definitely, not standing in line awaiting entry into the Cat’s Cradle.
Major bummer.
Tropical Storm Sandy blew into town earlier today, and, since the (semi) furry beast in our house has a fairly intense aversion to “weather events,” we decided to stay home with her instead of leaving town.
Aside from one incident where the power flickered and sent Gracie into a tailspin, she has basically been chilled out all day. Supposedly the wind and rain is going to get worse later tonight, but, as of right now I am undecided as to whether our decision to stay home was necessary.
On the upside, we did manage to be pretty productive today.
Danny is going to be tied up on election day and needed to vote early. I went ahead and knocked this task out myself.
We also needed to buy a new laptop. Danny is starting grad school next semester and needed something portable for when he travels. Because he is awesome, he let me take the new computer and is going to use my older Macbook Air.
It started raining fairly steadily by the time we got back to the house. Perfect weather to fire up the iPad and watch the first Duke basketball of the season.
Unfortunately, the Duke football game wasn’t nearly as fun to watch.
Staying home was definitely the responsible thing to do today. But, sometimes being responsible sucks. Mother Nature – you owe me one!
