As I as sorting through my pictures from September, I realized that there were a few things that I meant to blog about, but, never got around to. I blame the start of college and professional football season for this oversight.
Over Labor Day weekend we began the week long celebration of Danny’s birthday.
This involved cookie cake (appropriately decorated in a football theme – but, in the wrong color blue – we decided it was a Carolina Panther’s themed cake).
I made moose shaped cookies for the party as well. For those who don’t know, moose are Danny’s favorite animal. One year I asked the people at the cookie company if they could put a moose on his cookie cake and they looked at me like I was high.
After we served the guests at the party pizza and dessert, we put them to work in the garage assembling a tool chest that had been sitting in a box unopened since Christmas 2010. And we wonder why people don’t come over to visit more often.
Gracie got to meet her cousin Cooper. Thankfully, this introduction came before Gracie had her unfortunate run in with the clippers. Otherwise, Cooper might would have mistaken her for a hairless rat.
Continuing the “week of Danny” we hit up one of the new Brazilian steakhouses in town. It’s always fun to get the meat sweats on your birthday.
My father’s entire side of the family descended upon Wilmington this week to celebrate his birthday. It was a quasi-surprise – meaning that my mom waited until Friday afternoon to tell him so that he couldn’t complain and tell her not to plan anything.
When I first told Gracie that she was going to get to see some of her aunt’s and uncle’s, she was scared that they were going to make fun of her new look. Once everyone arrived, she realized that she could sucker people into walking her.
And just like that the month of September is over. I would normally say something like, “bring on October,” but it is going to be a pretty busy month – so, instead I am going to enjoy these last few hours of September by doing absolutely nothing.
