Our friends Nate and Julie had a fun little cookout to celebrate the 4th of July this year.
I spent the day getting geared up by laying on the sofa reading a book on my (severely outdated) Kindle. Recently, I have been really into decompressing on my time off by reading.
Once we arrived at our friends house, I popped open a cold one.
I actually bought this beer a few weeks ago and had been waiting for the right time to try it. America’s birthday seemed like a special enough occasion. The verdict? Eh, it was ok but I probably wouldn’t buy it again. My friend who said that it tasted like an alcoholic jolly rancher was right on the money.
Sometime around 6pm the heat broke a little bit. By this I mean that it was moderately bearable to be outside (as opposed to totally unbearable, which it had been a few hours earlier).
While some played Cornhole…
I decided it was time to bust out my finest King Kong themed beer sweater. I think that this might put me in the running for weirdest party accessory ever.
As the sun began to set, we headed home to our very nervous dog. She is not a fan of the 4th of July – the fireworks always send her into high panic mode.
While it was totally weird having a random Wednesday off from work – it was great to get together with our friends and visit for awhile. Happy Birthday America!
