Backwards Bride

by Megan on September 30, 2009

Note:  I started writing this post on Sunday night and then life got very hectic.

Keeping in the spirit of doing everything totally backwards for my wedding festivities – this weekend I had two events happen in my honor – a bridal shower and then a bachelorette party.  Even though these are both things that usually happen BEFORE the wedding, since we took the “OHMIGOD LET’S HURRY UP AND GET MARRIED” route, everything is getting done all out of order.  That is alright though – I have never been the type to do things by the book.

The mothers of my friends Sam, Carla and Stacey all got together to co-host the shower.  They did things up pretty nice with punch, appetizers and lots of cake.

I still have not perfected the art of being the center of attention.  But, I got lots and lots of stuff off of my Bed, Bath and Beyond registry.  It was hard work opening all of those presents and having everyone stare at me.

After the shower we all headed back to our respective homes (in a torrential downpour) and rested up for a few hours before ….

…heading downtown for my post-wedding bachelorette party.  We started out getting a fondue dinner (my favorite!) at The Little Dipper.  Not much to say about dinner except that it was excellent.

After ending the meal with a champagne toast – we set our sights towards Level 5.  This is a bar that I used to spend quite a bit of time at (back in my hey-day), but, I had probably not been there in at least 2 years. On the elevator ride up to the rooftop, I asked the bouncer to take a picture of us girls.

And, that is the last picture of the evening that I will be posting on my public blog. 🙂  We had a great time – I had a little way too much to drink and was feeling pretty rough the next morning.  I hardly ever go out on the town anymore, and, now I remember why!  I loved spending time with my friends though – it was great!  Thanks guys for a really fun night on the town!
