For weeks I have been craving a low-key, zero drama weekend. Things did not start out all that promising on Thursday night, when we made another trip to the ER. Thankfully, they caught things early enough that Danny’s mom was able to go home later that evening.
On Friday, I got to spend some quality time with my new niece.
Yep – still pretty much the cutest thing ever.
After not hitting up our neighborhood pool even once last summer, I made it twice this weekend. Saturday morning I had it all to myself – not a bad way to kill a few hours on a beautiful (but hot) summer day.
Our nephew called Danny this afternoon to ask if he could come over and swim. Honestly, I am so glad to finally be getting some use out of our HOA dues that he can come every day this summer if he would like.
Saturday evening we headed downtown to meet up with one of Danny’s friends at Port City Java. It has been years since I hit up the PCJ downtown, but, the java shake was tasty (as always).
We stayed downtown until the shop closed at midnight. I forgot what a mess Front Street is late at night on the weekends. When we see shows at The Soapbox we are away from most of the high maintenance night clubs and miss all of that action. Danny’s friend was in town because his girlfriend was playing a show at The Whiskey. Next time we will try and catch her act, but, last night I was exhausted!
Grillin’ and Chillin’ is making a come back now that the weather is warmer.
My CSA will probably keep me stocked with loads of stuff to throw on the grill this summer. Right now I am up to my ears in squash, blueberries, red potatoes and tomatoes.
As per usual, Gracie was running “grill security.” This is her “tough as nailz” look. Super intimidating.
I don’t want to project too much – but, a few more weekends like this one sure would be nice.

Gracie wants to know “cutest thing ever” and exactly where does that leave her?
Gracie said that she is fine with it as long as I do not bestow the titles of, “favorite baby monkey” or “#1 homegirl” upon the puppy.
