Over Labor Day weekend we took a “mini-vacation” with our friends to Lake Wylie, SC to hang out at our friend Matt’s parents lake house. We also hit up the US National Whitewater Center on Sunday for a fun day of “outdoor adventure” type activities.
Everyone took different cars up to the final destination. As a result, both Danny’s iPhone and my Blackberry were blowing up with “where are you now” text messages. Since Danny was driving the front leg of the trip, I was in charge of responding to all the messages.
Matt’s parents have a totally kick-ass house right on Lake Wylie. They also have lots of fun toys to play with like a ski boat – plus a floating dock right outside their house. It was so awesome of them to let us all crash at their place for 3 days.
Our friends were nice enough to decorate the “honeymoon suite” for Danny and I before we arrived. They took it to a whole new level and stuffed streamers inside the sheets of the bed and had things all over the walls. I guess that is what I get for helping mess with Julie and Nate’s real “honeymoon suite” at the Hilton on their wedding night.
We spent all day on Saturday playing on Lake Wylie. Danny and I suited up in our super stylin’ life jackets…
And then went for a fun jet ski ride. I totally need to get one of those things ASAP! After jet skiing – Matt took us all out tubing in his parents ski boat. After watching him throw Mark and Nathan all over the lake, I was a bit scared to jump into the tube. However, I made a deal with Danny that if I went out first, he had to follow me.
I didn’t stay on all that long – but, it was fun while it lasted. I think that Danny was a little sad that he made the deal with me – but, he kept his end of the bargain.
And I manage to capture his wipeout – much to his chagrin.
After hanging out on the lake all day, we headed back inside to relax.
And do some “chocolate cake” shots in honor of Stacey and Jeff’s new baby Abigail.
Late in the evening we hit the hot tub – and then I began to crash hard. I am told that some of our friends went out for a moonlight boat ride – but, we didn’t make it due to the fact that we are both lame and desparately wanted to go to bed to rest up for our adventure on Sunday.
