Danny and I exchanged wedding gifts over the weekend. Even though the tradition is that gifts are not supposed to be exchanged until the actual wedding day, nothing about our engagement/wedding/reception has been traditional up until this point, so, why start now? We had actually agreed not to do gifts, since we are trying to save for a house and all – but, last weekend Danny approached me and told me he really wanted to get me something. So, here we are.
At any rate, my present arrived on Friday and it was a shiny, new refurbished Macbook laptop. He knows that i’ve kind of been wanting another Mac laptop ever since my last one died a few years ago. I was, obviously, not excited at all about receiving such a wonderful gift.
As an aside – the Christmas after we first started dating (we had been together about 9 months), Danny kept saying that he was going to buy me a new Macbook as a gift. I freaked out and told all of my friends, “That is like the nerd equivalent of buying me an engagement ring!” It would seem that things have come full circle, no?
I told Danny that i’d like to get him an iPhone for his wedding gift. He has been talking about getting one for awhile, so, we went this weekend and picked one out for him. I also really want an iPhone, but, can’t get one until October when the contract renews on the business account for work. At the moment I am so completely jealous of his phone that it is ridiculous. But, he seems to like it, so that is what is important.
Note: We also went shopping for Danny’s “wedding ceremony” clothes today – which is why he is sporting such nice clothes in this picture. He doesn’t usually walk around dressed in Express for Men shirts and suit pants on his days off from work.
