Note: I have been trying to post this blog entry for the past 2 days, but for some reason Windows LiveWriter is not feeling cooperative. That is why this entry has no pictures. Boo.
We have spent the first few days of 2010 much like we spent the last few months of 2009 – working on house related things. Over the past 3 weeks, we have been to every single furniture store in the greater Wilmington area looking for new sofas/coffee table/various other random things. It is all starting to be a bit of a drag.
Our friends Carla and Mark hosted a NYE party on Thursday night. It was pretty low key and definitely much more enjoyable than heading downtown for an evening of drunken craziness. In my younger days, I enjoyed going and getting crazy – but now that I am old, all I really wanted to do was stay up long enough to usher in the new year with my friends and then go home and go to sleep.
I took one of my 12 shots of Christmas over to the party (along with tons of beer that was leftover from our soiree in Nov.) and had one mixed drink along with a beer and glass of champagne. At one point in the evening I inquired as to when I became such a lightweight that 3 drinks (over about a 8 hour window of time) made me so, so tired. Carla responded that it was obviously because we no longer pound the drinks like we used to. Definitely true.
I do have a few goals for 2010 – some of the usual and a few random ones thrown in for good measure.
- Write more
- Get back into photography
- Live Healthier by exercising more and eating less crap
- Create a cozy home space
- Waste less – Save more
I have a few mini challenges for myself which I will probably write about in a separate blog entry, but, those are the big ones. The reason I started this blog was to try and motivate myself to get back into writing and photography – two things that I was once very passionate about, but, have gotten super lazy with in the past few years.
And now it is back to unpacking – we have already made a trip to Goodwill this weekend and it seems like slowly but surely, things are starting to become less cluttered and more liveable. Maybe by this time next year I will be able to say that our house feels like “home.”
Off to do more work – Duke tips off at 7:45 tonight and I need to be done with my chores so that I can settle in for an evening of basketball!
