We barely had any time to rest after the soiree finished on Friday evening. On Monday afternoon we finally closed on the house that we’ve been under contract on for nearly 2 months. It was not without drama though – since we closed at 3pm on Monday and the transaction was not technically recorded until the next day, the seller was not willing to give us the keys to the house on Monday. Looking back, I really wish that we had been equally bitchy and said, “well, if you aren’t giving us the keys, we aren’t giving YOU the check.” At any rate, we were cleared to get the keys on Tuesday afternoon and now we are (finally) official owners of our very own detached, non-condo, single family dwelling.
We had grand plans of taking Gracie over to the house this evening for her first official run around the yard. Unfortunately, Mother Nature had other plans as it has been monsooning here since last night. We did finally make it over to check and see if the power had been connected yet. We are not planning on moving in until sometime towards the end of December – there is some work we want to get done before we start moving all of our belongings.
I kind of doubt that we will even make it back over to the house before we leave for Antigua on Saturday. Life has seriously been moving at warp speed for the past couple of weeks and I am so excited about having this 7 day vacation coming up. More than anything I am looking forward to not worrying about my schedule. Sure, I want to lay around and drink some fruity beverages – but, really I just want to hang out and not worry about ANYTHING.
Once we return – I imagine that life is going to get hectic again as we start trying to coordinate what we are capable of doing at the house ourselves and hiring workers to come in and do the rest. And then there is that really sucky part where we have to actually move all of our physical belongings. I have lived in the condo for 5+ years – believe me, I have ALOT of stuff. And that is not even counting all of the stuff that Danny brought with him when he moved in.
For now i’m just putting all of that out of my mind and looking forward to our upcoming honeymoon.
