We spent the majority of today hanging out in the area around our hotel, which is known in Sydney as “The Rocks.”
First, we started out at The Rocks Discovery Museum.
This museum gave us a little background of the area. Plus, it was free – which was very much appreciated in this city where everything is crazy expensive.
After touring the museum, Danny was thirsty, and purchased a Diet Coke. I took this picture so that he will always remember what that $5 can of Diet Coke looked like.
I actually really like this area of Sydney. It is cute, with all of the cobblestone streets and little shops.
We spent some time browsing around the open air markets looking for souviners before heading back to our hotel where Danny crashed out for a nap. He had to get rested up, because tonight we had our…PUB TOUR!
Thankfully, the rain held off for this tour. It stopped at three separate pubs and also included a bit of walking around The Rocks area to learn a little history about the surrounding area. It was really neat – Danny particularly enjoyed the history aspect of it and I enjoyed stopping at the local pubs for some brews.
I have no clue if there is something more potent in Australian beer – but, after two beers I could hardly walk straight. Of course, I have become quite the light weight in my old age.
Crossing my fingers for blue skies tomorrow – we are going to try and take the ferry over to Manly and perhaps rent some bikes.
